Last week we celebrated my in-laws diamond anniversary, and we had a fabulous evening there. In general everything was great, although there were a few moments that we had to wait pretty long for our term to be served, and an unexpected long break between our appetizers and main courses, still, our mood were not spoiled by that.
Food I give 4 stars mainly that some of the dishes were too plain and we needed to add lots of salt (usually German foods taste quite salty in Asian standard)
Service: No doubts! friendly staffs and the lady there got her own sense of humor which made the dinning experience very cozy.
Atmosphere: This is quite tricky though. Cus we sat in the courtyard where there were lots of green flies in the evening. They don't sting, BUT when you see your green napkin rest not 5 but more than 10 of these little creatures, then you start to feel annoyed. I guess the guests next to our table suffered the most. On the other hand, the guest sitting inside won't have this issue with the flying insects.
Wow and wow. This was recommend by the staff at the hotel I was at as a great local place and it did not disappoint. This is a very local place and makes you feel like your family sitting inside or outside on the patio to the back area too. The food was excellent and the service was too. Highly recommend if you are around going there for a meal.
Food was good, but not special. Fries super salty, bread dry. Price is good. Staff was minimal. You didn't have full attention of the waitress; didn't look at us while ordering and was talking to other guest in between, just uninterested. I don't think I even noticed a smile. Garden looked nice.
Everyone knows that I am not a big fan of German kitchen 🤔 and I didn't expected to be surprised.
Until today... 😳😋🤓 One of the best places I have been till now in Germany 😋
Everything was perfect 👌 starting with magical atmosphere, sooo delicious food and finishig with amaizing service 👨🍳
I don't say you have to come to this place when you are visiting Anderdah, I say - you have to VISIT THIS PLACE ❤️
One of the best meals I've ever had. The in season white asparagus was truly wonderful and the sweet Riesling a joy. Staff were lovely and they even have lovely gifts to purchase as well.
The Weinhaus Merowingerhof is located in an old Rhine boatman's building. It has a beautiful inner courtyard and pleasantly furnished rooms in the restaurant that are a pleasure to spend time in. We had tried in vain to reserve a table by phone outside the opening hours. So we went there on a whim to get a table. What is misleading is that the entrance to the restaurant is not marked. So we went across the courtyard to the open door and found nobody in the premises except for the prepared tables. So back into the courtyard and asked in the open kitchen. The entrance is directly behind the courtyard gate on the left behind an inconspicuous door. This should be improved and flagged. We got a table on the first floor and ordered two pints from the extensive wine list from a winery in Oberwesel, which tasted good to us. From the menu we then chose lamb rump roasted pink with thyme sauce, green beans with bacon and potatoes au gratin and pork fillet Gorgonzola with potato rösti and a mixed salad. Both tasted very good to us. As expected, the plates were preheated, so we didn't have to rush to eat them. Finally, we treated ourselves to the homemade wine cream, which tasted very good, but contained too much cream for us, so that the true taste of the wine didn't come out that much.
The female owner was friendly with her regular customers uniquely. Bad personality with new customers. I'll avoid this kind of people. I am curious how are they qualified as a "Wine House" restaurant without a possibility to taste local wine before ordering a glass?!
Worth having a wander through the cobbled streets of Andernach to find this Wine House. Lovely outside garden tables, which were very popular on a warm evening. Very good service, tolerant of bad German and lovely food. Advice on local wine was also good. Great place!
